Syaeeza Liana

Artist Bio

Hailing from a coastal city called Miri in Sarawak, Malaysia, 30-years-old Syaeeza Liana is an embroidery artist who enjoys creating with colours. She also plays around with beads, sequins and even crayons. On a daily basis, Syaeeza works as a special needs teacher who teaches English and life skills to her pupils. This includes skills like sewing up to coding. She started her journey in embroidery out of curiousity, back in 2018. All this while, she has always worked on embroidered portraits. But, as time went by, she found less contentment in creating art for others and hardly any for herself. This led her into a period of discovery where she finally found joy in incorporating crayons, glitter and paint in her work. Syaeeza believes that using these things as a medium is like rekindling her relationship with her inner child. Following that, most of her own recent pieces now carry a heavy correlation between embroidery and the exploration of her inner child. Working with special needs children on a daily basis inspires her to always be free in creating, to never think and to just be free.

Artwork Details:

In conjunction with International Women’s Day, the collection entitled “My Body is My Wonderland” has been created.

This collection is inspired by the artist’s own struggles with body acne and body acceptance. As she also struggles with PCOS and hormonal imbalances, she deals with her fluctuating weight change and weird skin texture.

Hence, this collection is a celebration of her acceptance towards how her body works, what her body is telling her and knowing that the most important thing is that she is full of love and these physical flaws should have not meant a single thing.
